Ice melting in Antarctica is resulting in rapid growth of the sea level

With each passing year, the ice cap and glaciers are melting and flowing off into the water of the ocean resulting in rapid growth in the sea level.

Oliver Kruess pilot of a cruise ship in the regions of Antarctica says that the tourism to Antarctica is more attracted to see the ice-filled glaciers and the amusing shapes of the icebergs and less piqued to see the seals, penguins or the whales.

Although the ice that is melting from the ice-caps is being restored through snowfall, the ice that melts from the surface cannot be ceased in any manner. The increase of water level in the oceans and the seas are the outcome of continuous melting of the ice from the surface of the glaciers.

The rise in the sea level is sending threatening signs to the low-lying areas in the coastal territories. Now NASA is planning to launch a new satellite to monitor the changing of the glacier heights of Antarctica instead of those antique ice measuring flights. Still, the chances of introduction of this updated technology to monitor the climatic changes remains a question as the United States is ruled a skeptic who believes the changes taking place in the surrounding climate is a total absurdity.

Formation of dark Vortex on Neptune captured for the very first time

In the previous years, the sixth dark vortex on planet Neptune was discovered by the astronomers. After several years, now scientists are able to dig further into these ephemeral features of the weather that is leading to the formation of a swirling storm.

Earlier this year, the scientists announced the formation of Dark vortex on Neptune and the surface of Uranus being invaded by a dramatic white cap. The Outer Planet Atmosphere Legacy made the discovery of these astounding phenomena on the ice giants possible. The researchers have started to dig further to know about the origin of these dark spots that are formed on the planet. They are also trying to figure out the frequency of their appearance and the longevity of their presence on the surface of the planet.

The Hubble data collection detected the formation of this Dark vortex on the planet during the autumn of 2018. After the Voyager 2 flyby storm that took place on the planet in the year 1989, this is going to be the largest storm invading Neptune. This is the sixth dark spot appearing on the planet out of which two were discovered by NASA and the remaining four by Hubble.

A rare solar storm may bring the Northern Lights south to the US

According to the experts, the Northern lights will travel to the South of the United States. The residents of Montana, Michigan, New York, and Minnesota will have a full display of the aurora borealis light show. The other regions further in the South may not have a complete show but will receive a spectacle of the color-filled lights.

Although the light show is mainly reserved for the northern residents like –Scandinavia, Alaska, and Canada, the southern territory will receive glimmers of the light due to a rare storm of the solar system. This is occurring due to the spilling of a solar flare or an influx of charged particles that took place on 20th of March.

The Space Weather Prediction on Saturday issued a modest watch of the geomagnetic storm that will result in the intensified showcase of the Northern Lights. The timing of the display of the aurora borealis is mainly depending on when the charged particles will collide with the Magnetic Field of the Earth. The energy influx will be high enough for the Northern Lights to travel as south as to Colorado and Iowa.

Still, there is no certainty of this phenomenon to be witnessed by the residents of the US as the conditions need to be ideal for the showcase to take place.
